There are so many free applications on the internet to download YouTube its ridiculous !! just do a Google search to find out. What they don't tell you is you will need to buy a FLV (flash video file) program like this one, to convert the saved video into something you can view or transfer to a device, or burn to DVD.

Firefox has a good free program which is easy to integrate in your firefox toolbar but again you will need a FLV converter to do anything with the download. You will be directed to downloadhelper.com to purchase the program.

Frankly having to change the applications and interfaces by using the free programs isn't worth it, and the virus/spyware risk can be high.
